Tom McPhail is a leading commentator on pensions, with broad experience of pensions and investment related issues. He has over twenty years experience in the financial services industry, having started his career at Norwich Union in 1986. Since then he has worked for a small, specialist pensions insurance company, dealing with Sipps, SSASs, Drawdown and group pensions; he has run a pensions business for a large regional IFA company; and has worked as a specialist pensions adviser, giving advice to individuals and companies on pensions issues.
Since 2002 Tom has been based in Bristol working as head of pensions research for Hargreaves Lansdown, one of the UK's largest and most successful independent financial intermediary businesses. His work involves research and analysis of pension products and investments, as well as broader pensions policy issues.
