Incentives can boost staff loyalty

Incentives can boost staff loyalty

If you run your own business, you are no doubt concerned with boosting staff loyalty and will be particularly interested in the various ways in which this can be achieved.

You will certainly have looked into cash bonuses and how these work as incentives, but you should perhaps consider other avenues as well, as they can be equally effective.

There are numerous employee schemes you can adopt to ensure that your members of staff remain true to your company and are eager to continue working for you for a long time – perhaps even until they retire.

As well as opting for cash bonus initiatives, why not look at gift cards and vouchers? These have proved popular with other businesses in the past – perhaps because they can be tailored to the individual.

If you know one of your workers enjoys reading, for example, you could get them a bookshop voucher. Given the wide variety of cards and vouchers available today, these make for a great way to incentivise staff members.

Alternatively, you could look at travel incentives and offer up airmiles or even a short holiday to workers who are doing well in the office. Online incentive points are also proving to be a popular method for businesses, since they are easy to administer and manage. All you have to do is select the staff member you intend to reward and then do so via a secure web-based system.

Another technique could be rewarding workers with long service awards, with rewards offered to members of staff after up to 40 years of service – a method that is designed to encourage people to stay with their firm for decades, instead of just a few years.

Of course, you might find it more beneficial to offer such rewards to your workforce throughout their careers, rather than at the end, in a bid to increase retention and motivate staff members

Little touches should also not be ignored and, while it might seem a small token, sending out personalised thank you letters to those deserving people could go a long way to creating a happy and loyal workforce.
