The first UK-listed Latin American closed-end fund with an income bias is to be launched by Aberdeen.

Entitled the Aberdeen Latin American Income Fund, the product hopes to present investors looking overseas with a unique opportunity to ensure their sources of income and capital exposure are diversified.

The initial dividend yield target is 4.25 per cent, with plans for growing dividends over time.

Devan Kaloo, head of global emerging markets at the organisation, said the economic outlook for Latin America is compelling.

“These uncertain times serve to highlight the need to avoid highly indebted entities . and focus instead on those with strong balance sheets,” the specialist added.
