Sainsbury’s offers breakdown cover with car insurance

Drivers who take out a Sainsbury’s car insurance policy before April 9 could get a package of rewards and benefits worth up to £293, the supermarket bank has announced.

Nectar cardholders who sign up can receive up to 15 per cent discount on their premium, free breakdown assistance for one year and double Nectar points on shopping and fuel for two years, the insurer said.

In addition, new customers who buy a policy before February 8 could receive a further five per cent discount, giving a potential package saving of up to £341.

Ben Tyte, head of Sainsbury’s car insurance, said: “This is the time of year when car owners really should ensure they have breakdown cover.

“Should you break down, you don’t want to be stuck at the roadside on a cold, dark, wintry night having to make an emergency call out.”

The breakdown cover includes free labour for roadside repairs and free recovery service to a repairer within 10 miles.

If drivers are unable to reach friends and family from the roadside, the service will ensure that a message reaches them.
