A FTSE-linked regular income bond product that pays 5.6 per cent per annum or 0.46 per cent a month has been issued by Barclays Wealth.

Available now, the service offers investors a dependent, frequent level of income, according to the firm.

Capital is at risk if the FTSE experiences a drop over 50 per cent from its starting level during the term and is below the starting figure when the bond matures and should this occur, money will be lost by the investor on a 1:1 basis.

Lisa Chaudhuri, vice-president at Barclays Wealth, noted individuals are having to try alternative ways of generating income and stated the new service “is designed to bridge the gap between risk and reward”.
