Legal & General to cut 560 jobs
Insurer Legal & General is set to make up to 560 workers redundant from processing centres across the country.
Most of the losses are expected to come from Kingswood, Surrey and Hove, Brighton.
Trade union Unite is unhappy with the redundancies.
Rob MacGregor, Unite national officer, said: “The decision by Legal and General to make up to 560 workers redundant is extremely disturbing in any circumstance; this distress will be compounded within the current economic climate.
“The people impacted by today’s news work in Legal and General processing centres across the country, many of them carrying out customer facing telephone based work. Unite will be opposing any suggestion of compulsory job losses and urging the company to explore alternatives.”
Legal & General warned it would be making cuts when the firm announced its preliminary results.
