How long does it take to complete a remortgage?

Tuesday, 10 February 2009 05:43

A reader from Southampton is waiting for a remortgage to go through.

Tony Davis, myfinances.co.uk mortgage expert from Mortgage Meadow, takes him through the problem and what it means to his finances.

A reader from Southampton asks:

How long does a remortgage normally take to complete?

How long does it take before they take too long and I can look elsewhere?

Tony replies:

How long is a piece of string?

It can be possible to complete a remortgage in a week, but it could take several months.

Much depends on access to your property, the time it takes for the legal work to be carried out and equally how busy the lender is.
