Nationwide becomes latest lender to cut mortgage rates

Nationwide has announced that it is cutting mortgage rates by 0.1 per cent on a range of its mortgages and has also reduced fees for first-time buyers.

Nationwide Building Society has launched a range of measures that are aimed at supporting its remortgage customers.

The organisation is to offer products free from a number of fees, including standard valuation, product and standard legal costs – with a booking fee of £99.

People will now have the choice of two, three and five-year fee-friendly deals, as well as selected fixed-rates that are being reduced by up to 0.3 per cent.

Andy McQueen, divisional director for mortgages at Nationwide, advised consumers now could be the time to remortgage as it would provide "peace of mind against rising rates in the future".
