Excise duty

Excise duty is an indirect tax charged on specific items within the UK.

Vehicle excise duty is the most well-known version of excise duty in the UK. It is an annual tax on the ownership of road vehicles, frequently referred to as "road tax", including vans, lorries and motorcycles.

This excise duty requires car owners to pay between £0 and £210 depending on the size of the engine of the car and carbon dioxide emissions.
