Aviva responds to volcano chaos with travel insurance extra

Friday, 21 May 2010 12:00

Travel insurance policies have been adapted by Aviva to include cover for airspace, port or airport closure.

From June 1st customers will be able to add the new deal, which provides cover if airspace or an airport is closed for more than 24 hours, to a standard travel insurance package.

It has been launched in response to the travel chaos caused by the Icelandic volcanic ash.

Jerry Finch, travel manager at the company, believes the add-on will reassure people “as they look either to go on holiday soon or plan to book one later in the year”.

Customers will be insured for up to £5,000 and cover starts from £5 per person for a single trip.
