Fidelity has received plaudits for two of its investment funds which have just been given the seal of approval from a ratings agency.

Manager of the Fidelity American and Fidelity Funds American Growth funds, Aris Vatis, has been awarded a “superior” rating by Morningstar, a firm which monitors fund performance.

And the funds themselves were also given a “superior” rating, which is awarded to investment products which Morningstar considers to be above average and capable of producing competitive returns.

“Superior” is the second highest rating a fund can receive from Morningstar.

A spokesperson for Fidelity said: “Fidelity American is a first quartile performer in its sector over ten years and since launch.”

Morningstar said Mr Vatis had been plying is strategy for over two years, in difficult market conditions, and its confidence in his abilities had increased in that time.
