Wedding Insurance: Women leading the way
Women lead way up the aisle in wedding preparations

Women are taking an increasingly large role in organising their weddings, according to new research by Debenhams Wedding Insurance.
The insurer found grooms-to-be were taking a back seat in preparing weddings, with just over a third of weddings principally organised by men.
Last year 63.9 per cent of wedding ceremonies were mainly organised by women – up one per cent on 2006.
"Our data show women take far more control than men when it comes to making the arrangements to tie the knot,” said Debenhams Wedding Insurance spokeswoman Diane Jackson.
"Organising today’s wedding ceremony is a complex and logistically challenging agenda, from booking the venue, flower arrangements, ceremonial attire to arranging flights for exotic destinations abroad, sending out invitations and arranging the wedding insurance.
"And with the average cost of a wedding set to hit £30,000 in 2008 girls are being sensible making sure they insure their wedding should the unthinkable happen."
The number of women in the driving seat over wedding is set to increase in the coming year, as the number of weddings are set to increase and with 2008 being a leap year, February 29th will see many proposing.
Alex Stevenson, who is set to go up the aisle in October, explained his bride-to-be was taking over organising the big day, and why he was considering wedding insurance.
He said: "Wedding insurance is something we are taking a long hard think about.
"With so much as stake, it's good to have some protection for the big day, just in case the weather turns bad, or hotels let us down."
