Private Health Insurance

Private health insurance, or medical insurance, is a financial product that - in return for a regular payment - pays out for private medical expenses or treatments up to a certain amount.

Medical, or private health insurance can cover a wide variety of conditions and treatments, from emergency operations to hydrotherapy, depending on the policy.

As a rule travel insurance includes some private medical cover, in case the policyholder is injured or falls ill overseas.

Adopting a healthy lifestyle can secure heavy discounts on medical, or private health insurance. Most insurance will not cover pre-existing conditions, and most private medical insurance policies require applicants to undergo a medical before signing up.
