Mobile Phone Insurance

Mobile phone insurance offers financial protection against the risk that the policyholder's mobile phone is lost, damaged, or stolen.

Mobile phone insurance is available as a standalone policy protecting against everything from mechanical failure to stolen handsets and unauthorised calls.

Replacing a phone can cost hundreds of pounds, as they are free or heavily subsidised when first bought.

But it can be cheaper in the long run to insure a mobile phone on home contents insurance via the personal possessions section, which covers personal possessions such as cash, jewellery and cameras, as well as mobiles, up to a pre-arranged limit.

Consumers can pay an extra premium to get cover away from home, but should be aware that in this instance most insurers will not pay out the cost of any unauthorised use of the phone.
