Abbey issues new bonds

Abbey has issued a new series of fixed-term savings accounts with over 50s, children's saving and fixed-rate bonds.

The 50+ Bond stands at 5.7 per cent AER (net 4.56 per cent) for a fixed term of three years.

The four-year Children's Saving Bond is at 5.7 per cent AER (net 4.56 per cent), while the one-year Fixed Rate Bond stands at 6.15 per cent AER (net 4.92 per cent) for under £50,000 and 6.35 per cent AER (net 5.08 per cent) for over £50,000.

The two and three-year bonds offer 5.85 per cent AER (net 4.68 per cent) and 5.7 per cent AER (net 4.56 per cent) respectively.

All the bonds are open to investors from £1.

Reza Attar-Zadeh, director of savings and investments at Abbey, said: "Our savings bond range has proved very popular so far this year and we expect the bonds available in this launch to appeal to both those saving for children or looking for regular interest payments."
