Bradford & Bingley insurance grows on trees

Thursday, 13 Jul 2006 16:03
For every Bradford & Bingley insurance policy sold from today onwards, the bank will support the planting of a tree in one of 20 UK forests.

Customers can choose which forest and can dedicate the tree to themselves, a loved one or a friend.

"We are all becoming more aware of the effects of global warming. Customers now have the opportunity when purchasing home, motor or travel insurance to dedicate a tree in one of 20 reforestation projects around the UK which will not only encourage bio-diversity in these areas but will also help to absorb greenhouse gas emissions," said Dave Foyle, Bradford & Bingley’s head of general insurance.

The initiative - a UK first for a bank - will run until the end of 2006.
