Halifax launches cheap home insurance until 2010

Wednesday, 09 May 2007 17:36
Halifax home insurance has said it will beat any competitor's home insurance renewal quote and then freeze home insurance premiums until 2010.

And there is another 25% discount available for people buying home insurance online.

"On average, we beat renewal quotes by £105 for customers who switch to us," said Tom Woolgrove, Halifax home insurance managing director.

"We are currently the only insurer who aims to beat any competitor's renewal quote for buildings and contents insurance, and then promises to freeze that premium for a three year period."

How 'beat and freeze' works
  • Halifax will aim to 'beat' any competitor's renewal quote.
  • Customers moving to Halifax home insurance will see their home insurance remain at the same price – or 'frozen' - for a fixed period of three years. After this customers can renew their Halifax home insurance in the usual way.

If a claim is made during the three-year 'freeze', the annual premium will be reviewed at the policy's usual annual renewal anniversary.

Existing Halifax customers can 'freeze' their annual premium for three years at renewal.

Halifax home insurance offers unlimited buildings and contents cover, although limits apply to single items and high risk items, money and contents in the open.

Clothes and bicycles have a deduction for wear and tear – full details are available within the policy booklet, available on request.
