NatWest launches teen current account

Tuesday, 18 Sep 2007 16:55
NatWest is launching a new current account for 11 to 18-year-olds.

The NatWest Adapt account offers interest of 3.15 per cent AER and is run with a Solo bankcard, which can be used in shops and at cash machines.

The card can be personalised with pictures from EMI album covers - with artists including Lily Allen, the cast from High School Musical and The Thrills - artwork or photos.

Mark Worthington, NatWest head of youth banking, said: "The earlier young people learn about managing money the easier it is for them when they become adults. This is an ideal age to learn about using a Pin to buy things, what a bank statement means and checking how much money is in the account before shopping.

"The NatWest Adapt account also pays an excellent rate of interest to encourage young people to keep putting money into their account."

The Adapt account can be managed at branches and cash machines as well as by telephone and online for the over 16s.

The account also offers:

  • 3 free ringtone downloads when topping-up a mobile phone six times at any NatWest, RBS or Tesco cash machine
  • Discounts with Phones4U
  • 2 for 1 offers with Vue cinema
  • Young Persons Railcard discount (for over 16s)
  • Chip and pin protected card
  • Compare bank accounts
