Car hit by arson?

Tuesday, 04 Nov 2008 17:39
A reader's car was written off due to arson. He wonders if he will lose his no claims bonus.

Ian Durrell, myfinances.co.uk insurance expert from the Only Group, which includes onlyinsurance.com, tackles the issue.

Leon from Barry asks:

The car that was parked next to mine was a victim of arson, as concluded by the Fire Brigade Investigators.

My car suffered serious damage as a result and was written-off.

Am I able to claim off the targeted car's insurance or do I have to lose my no-claims bonus and pay the 450 excess?

Please help a currently financially challenged man.

Ian replies:

You would need to claim via your legal protection cover.
