Dry rot insurance cover?
Friday, 16 May 2008 17:54
A reader from Stockport is unsure if his home insurance covers dry rot.
Tony Davis, myfinances.co.uk mortgage expert from
Mortgage Meadow
, takes him through the problem.
Mr Bramwell from Stockport asks:
Does house buildings insurance cover damage caused by wet rot and/or dry rot?
Tony at
Mortgage Meadow
replies:
Unfortunately as wet rot and dry rot are both progressive conditions most insurers will see these problems as normal wear and tear.
Unfortunately I do not know of any insurance policy the covers a property for wear and tear issues. Our advice is that once you first become aware of a dry or wet rot problem, to get it treated by an expert straight away.
